News in BriefThe Coalition Website and the Ashland Speaks Blog are Active The Coalition for Action suspended both this website and the "Ashland Speaks" blog after the election last March. A number of the members were elected and appointed to positions in the town, and many volunteer their time to other groups like HEAL, the 4th of July Committee, and the ARA. We have tried working within the system to bring about transparency and positive change. When the Select Board decided to exclude public comments for their meetings, the members of the coalition felt that we needed to provide a public forum for discussion of issues and an alternative source for news. Budget Committee Financial Forum #2 The Ashland Budget Committee will hold s second Financial Forum on December 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Elementary School Cafeteria. The Budget Committee presented a general review of the town's financial situation earlier this fall and will now present more detailed financial information. The Coalition for Action urges voters to attend this very important meeting. It is important to remember that we as voters are responsible for the final budget. We can only make informed decisions if we know what the short-term and long-term consequences of the budget will be. HEAL The HEAL Coalition has been working develop 4 healthy eating and 4 active living strategies and will present them to the town early in the new year. The main objective of the committee is to make policy changes that make healthy eating and active living choices accessible and available. |
